- Carnivore
- Man-eater: Orcs have a taste for human flesh.
- Cannibalistic: They're not averse to eating their own kind either.
- Warrior race: Orcs were infamously bred to be a brutal, warlike race.
- Different Orc cultures can vary from primitive barbarism to a proud clan-based society centered around honor and loyalty to the tribe.
- Photophobic: Many Orcs prefer dark habitats and generally avoid sunlight, although some are capable of enduring it.

Related species[]
- They're believed to have been created from corrupted Elves by Morgoth.
- Considered a sub-class of Goblinoids or Greenskins, Orcs are closely related to – or in some cases synonymous with Goblins.
- Orcs are also capable of interbreeding with humans.
