Magerippers are small creatures that travel in swarms of about 300 individuals. They feed on magical energy and are a threat to spellcasters of all kinds.
Overview[]
Magerippers are so bizarre that most believe they were engineered for a specific, yet unknown, purpose. They rely on nonvisual senses in order to detect their environment. They can subsist on meat as well as magical energy, but prefer the latter. In cities, they can easily become a major threat. Magerippers will congregate around enchanted objects (which they cannot digest), milling about them confusedly.
They are so dependant on magical energy that it is the only way to reproduce. Once they consume enough energy, young are born by budding from the backs of adults. In this way swarms can double their size within a matter of days. Once a swarm grows too large it will split into two. If separated from the swarm, individuals will become lethargic and eventually die.
Magerippers are very clever. They are capable of forming strategies and can change their behavior based on external stimuli. Some keep them as a denfense against spellcasters.
