Murtlaps are marine beasts native to coastal areas in Britain. Their existence is documented by Newton "Newt" Scamander in his book: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Anatomy and appearance[]
The murtlap are a species of rodent with growth on their backs resembling a sea anemone. It's appearance is rat-like and similar to a porcupine. A murtlap's tentacle is known to have healing properties.
Behaviour[]
Murtlaps pose a small threat to wizardkind and No-Majs. However, murtlaps may bite when uprovoked, however this bite is non-lethal but will make you fart flames
